Aztec Renaissance Men

During the age of the Renaissance the Aztecs invented many things that we still use today.
One invention that the Aztecs invented as popcorn. The secret to this good treat was that the aztecs took their own fresh corn and let it sit in the sun so that the corn would pop. Another invention that the Aztecs introduced to us was hot chocolate.The Aztecs valued the coco bean very much. The Aztecs had invented tocoat meaning bitter water. The aztecs ground up the coco bean and mixed it with spices lik nutmeg. They had nothing t do with this mixture so the Aztecs mixed it with the tocoat. The Aztecs had devolped a smooth and tasty drink. The Aztecs also invented chewing gum or bubble gum. The Myans had to take all the credit for this fan favorite. The sapodila tree has a thick milky liquid. The Myans took this liquid and set it out in the warm sun for it to harden.
Poerty was very important to the Aztec poeple but most important to the warrors because it was the only occupation that a warror could have during times of peace. Many poetry pieces have been collected during the era of the conquest. The two most famous Aztec poets are Nezahualcoyotl and Cuacuauhtzin. Poetry was written in xochitl meaning "the flower and prose The flower an prose are two different types of peoms. Yaocuicotl poems are devoted to the gods and war. Poems that are about gods, creation myths,and said figures is the type of poems called teocuicatl. A very important poem to the Aztecs was "Romances de los Senores de la Nueva Espana" written by Jaun Bautistu de Pomar. Pomar was the grandson of Nezohualcoyotl. Pomar spoke Nahuatl but he was raised Christian and wrote in latin characters.
The Aztec people liked dramas, a kind of theater. Some dramas were comical with music and acrobats. Others were even staged dramas of their gods. After the conquest the first Christian churches opened chapels reserved for these kinds of presentations. Some plays were written in Nahuatl, by converted Indians. Indians were an important instrument for conversation to Christianity,and still are today. You see them around Christmas time in the form of baby Jesus and other Biblical passages.
Aztec art is a beuatiful thing. pottery had to be the most used piece of art. The Aztecs used it for many things lik cooking. pottery was also a religious craft. The Aztecs had sculptures of stone etched with designs of gods or religious symbols. There were also pictographs. Pictographs are tiny pictures that mean objects or sounds. Masks were made with the feathers of many colorful birds. Masks were mostly used in religious ceremonies.
There are many different kimds of music. There are scared hymns that commorate the deeds of rulers and gods. Cantas or ghost songs are songs that recount the deeds or the past. Cantas were only sung in religious ceremonies. Love songs, songs of energy, an dsongs of excitment were the most popular to the Aztecs. Music and dance formed an essential part of Aztec culture and rites.Aztec music has a deep rich sound. this mysterious sound is posible with many various instruments.
